Morning Rooted in Meaning
The morning unfolded across two very different but equally meaningful spaces.
Ben got ready at his parents’ home, while Ashlin chose to get ready at her grandparents’ house. This wasn’t just a location choice. The home had recently sold and was soon to be demolished, so being there held a lot of weight.
We spent time capturing the small details. The corners, the textures, the quiet reminders of her childhood. These are the things that matter later. The things that bring you back.
It’s also why I care so much about documenting more than just people. The story lives in the details too.

A Ceremony Full of Emotion
The ceremony carried that same depth.
As Ashlin walked down the aisle with her grandfather, Ben’s reaction said everything. He teared up, trying to hold it together while taking it all in.
There was a moment, just before they said their vows, where they gave a thumbs up for marriage equality. It felt light, but also quietly powerful. A reflection of what this day meant, not just to them, but in a broader way too.
They said “I do” and were immediately surrounded by a sky of dried flowers. These weren’t just decorative. They had been grown and brought over from Ashlin’s grandfather’s home in London, which added another layer to the moment.

Time Together, Their Way
Without a bridal party, the afternoon shifted into something more relaxed.
There was space for them to just be together. To move through their creative session without pressure. It felt easy, fun, and completely their own.
No rushing. Just moments unfolding as they happened.

A Celebration That Let Loose
As the reception kicked off, the energy lifted.
The kind of celebration where the formalities fade quickly and the focus shifts to connection, laughter, and being fully present with the people around you.

Why Emu Bottom Works So Well for Weddings
There’s something about Emu Bottom that holds space for both ends of the day.
It carries history, texture, and a sense of calm, while still allowing for energy and movement once the celebration begins. That balance makes it such a strong place for storytelling.
