An Old Treasury Building wedding gave us plenty of opportunity for this sweet and fun couple to document their special day amongst a Melbourne City landscape….
I really enjoy documenting couples getting ready together before the ceremony. It’s just them (and an unobtrusive photographer…. and barber, in Bernado’s case). It’s quiet and intimate. And in the case of these two, frigging adorable! It reminds me of reveals (First look) even thought the sentiment is the complete opposite.
Once they donned their dapper, matching suits we headed to the streets of Melbourne with their bridal party for the creative session. As usual, I was drawn to the lines, shapes, light and shadows that a city provides in abundance. Whereas Fitzroy Garden provided the perfect backdrop for the portrait session. It’s amazing the variety you can find in a small area.
The ceremony took place at The Registry Office. Dean’s grandma (a very special influence in his life), read a special prayer. Definitely a highlight : )
After the ceremony we walked to LOCANDA for drinks and speeches. Dean surprised Bernado with video messages of Bernado’s family and friends in Brazil – look out for the emotional reaction. A quick freshen up and cocktails back at the hotel with the bridal party and family followed before heading back to Locanda for dinner and more fun.
I feel so honoured to document such amazing individuals on such a beautiful day. A perfect example that its not a “Gay wedding” or a “Queer wedding”… Love is love and their love for each other is palpable.
This is how I saw their day….ENJOY!
