I had never captured a destination wedding France before let alone at an ecological retreat. To say I was excited and honoured at the privilege is an understatement….

No matter how many weddings I shoot, there is always a little bubble of excitement and nerves inside of me. It’s the kind of pressure that drives me.

Shooting a destination wedding only adds to that. Being in a foreign country, not speaking the language and trying my best to adjust to another culture, really brought home the fact that I wasn’t in Kansas anymore, Toto.

I shot the best man’s (Nic) wedding a couple of years back. Now his brother, Nathan, was getting hitched to the lovely, Hélène.  This amazing couple flew me over to the other side of the world to document their magical day and as I’ve already mentioned, I couldn’t have been more honoured.

I was super nervous for a good few days before the big one – the anticipation was building! But then it happened…  the moment I started shooting all of those healthy nerves melted away and I was as present as ever and pumped for the day ahead.

Picture this…. Laval. A gorgeous little town, south west of Paris.

Breathtaking pockets of light and amazing props and locations to shoot in every corner. Two amazing families from different backgrounds coming together to help celebrate this beautiful occasion. And an absolutely stunning couple that could easily make the cover of a French fashion magazine. It helped that the look of love was clearly etched on their faces. Even the extremely warm weather couldn’t wipe the smiles off their faces.

What more could a wedding photographer want? I let my trigger finger do the rest.
