Intimate Queer Wedding in Daylesford

Naomi (they/them) and Bec (she/her) chose an intimate queer wedding in Daylesford, surrounded by just eight of their nearest and dearest. It was June. Chilly. Quiet. The kind of winter light that wraps itself around you.

Their Airbnb in Daylesford, Victoria became the heart of the day. No bridal party. No rush. Just presence.

They helped each other get dressed in tailored suits. Buttons fastened slowly. Jackets smoothed down. Small glances that said more than words. From the very beginning, the emotion of the day was a beautiful mix of laughter and happy tears.

A Creative Portrait Session That Meant Something

Because there was no bridal party, it was just the three of us for portraits. That space felt intentional. Uncomplicated.

I asked what mattered to them. What felt like them.

They spoke about the little bookshop on the main street. The comfort of it. The nostalgia. So we wandered slowly through the shelves at Paradise Bookshop, letting its textured corners and soft winter light hold us for a while.

Afterwards, we drove out to Daylesford Cider Company. Tucked into a quiet little spot, warm cider in hand, they took a moment to breathe. To giggle. To steady themselves before the ceremony.

Supporting the Queer Community

Naomi and Bec were clear from the start. They wanted to support the queer community and work with vendors from within it.

Their celebrant was the incredible Dee Wild from Custom Celebrations. Dee held the ceremony with warmth, humour and care. It felt expansive and grounded at the same time.

Rather than a traditional reception, they chose a private chef to cater dinner back at the Airbnb. As the light faded, the evening unfolded slowly. Cuppas. Champas. Relaxing into each other’s company. Conversations stretching long past the plates being cleared.

It wasn’t a dance-floor, rager vibe.

Instead, it was warm. Intimate. Uncomplicated.

It was perfect.

A Five Star Review from Naomi & Bec

After their wedding, Naomi and Bec left this review. I’ll never forget reading it.

Loz is a magician. Watching her in action seems effortless, which is a magnificent sleight of hand because she could not be more aware, observant and connected to every little thing that is going on around her.

Initially we were thinking we wouldn’t hire a photographer as we were worried that it would feel too invasive within the intimate setting of our tiny elopement. But we are so relieved that we came across Lauren’s Instagram and decided to have a chat with her about our vision. Loz was on board immediately. She understood the brief: natural, unserious, intimate, playful, relaxed… and then she helped us develop the vision and collaborated with us to ensure she was capturing our day in all the right ways.

Loz captured each stage of our intimate, cozy, queer elopement with such warmth, humour and personability that it was like she had been on the guest list all along.

Going through our photos afterwards was a deeply emotional experience. We have cried and laughed over them, in awe of Loz’s attention to detail and inspired creativity. Thank you for going above and beyond to capture the emotions, light, mood, moments and textures of the best day of our lives, Loz. We are so grateful to have met you, to have had you there with us, and to now get to enjoy our delightful friendship. What a gift.
