A Loved Up family portrait shoot is all about documenting the special moments in your life. Even those “special” moments where your toddler is losing his s#*t.
We’d been mates on Instagram for a while. Following each other as we navigated our way through parenthood before “chatting” privately (sounds like we were discussing plans for world domination). We realised we had a lot in common and a virtual friendship quickly ensued.
@ladyladybaby are an adorable 2 mum family with a gorgeous toddler named Oscar.
When my wife and I decided to head to the sunny Gold Coast to watch my sister run in the Gold Coast marathon we asked ladyladybaby (aka, Shauna and Candice) if they wanted to meet face-to-face in their nearby hometown of Brisbane.
I really wanted to document these guys and suggested we do a family portrait shoot as well.
It was a surreal experience. I knew them yet we’d never met in person. I’d been following their life and was now standing in their house recognising rooms and items as if I’d been there before.
I’ll admit we were all rather nervous and shy but then Oscar took us into his playroom (which my son LOVED) and everyone started to relax.
I sat back, clicked away, and let my camera capture this moment in their lives where everything revolves around their son and the beautiful home full of love that they have created.
Hopefully it won’t be the only time we meet. Until then, this is how their Loved Up family portrait shoot was captured. I hope you ENJOY.

“When @ourstorytomakeyou and @ljm_photo asked if we’d be keen to meet while they were up in Brisbane, we didn’t hesitate. We adore this family. From the moment we started chatting, I knew we would get along because we just clicked. These guys are so down to earth. They sometimes struggle at “parenting” just like we do, while simultaneously kicking ass at it. It’s always been so easy and comfortable, it was kind of weird to remember that we hadn’t even met yet.
But now we have. We had them over to our house where the boys would refuse to play with each other, in typical playdate style, while we shared some beers, pizza and stories. Such a damn pleasure. If you don’t already follow this 2 Mum family, you probably should. They have the cutest kid on the planet and they rock as parents”
