Documentary Family Home Photography | Your Story, Right Now

You are about to move. Or you just moved in. Or nothing is changing at all, but something inside you knows that this chapter, the one happening right now inside these walls, is worth keeping. I offer in home family photography across Melbourne, Geelong and the Surf Coast

This is not about grief. It is not about endings or beginnings.

Sometimes it is simply about the complete, beautiful, overwhelming reality of right now. The Tuesday morning that looks like every other Tuesday morning but somehow holds everything that matters most about your life at this exact moment in time.

That is what documentary family home photography is. And that is what I do.

Every Home Has a Story Worth Telling

Not every chapter ends with a farewell. Many of them just quietly shift, and before you know it the thing that defined this period of your life has already become the thing you used to do.

The siblings who still want to be in the same room. Two Mums laughing while their kids wriggle around on their laps. A couple with some coffee and their cat who just wants to be in its spot in the couch… like, literally. A family gathered in the shed their dad built, three generations of dogs included own the space before it is sold.

Each of these moments deserves to be documented. Not because something is ending, but because right now is worth keeping.

Documentary Family Home Photography

No studio. No backdrop. No outfits coordinated in advance unless that is genuinely your thing.

Instead, I come to you. I arrive in your space, your actual space with the things on the bench and the art on the walls and the dog wandering around owning the space. I just shoot what is unfolding in front of me.

We have hired Loz on two occasions to document our growing family and both sets of photos are beautiful! Loz made everyone (adults and children) so comfortable. We wanted our photos to feel natural and not overly posed, and Loz nailed the brief. We are so happy to have gorgeous photos to forever treasure of these special times in our journey. Thank you!

A dance party that breaks out in the living room because someone put a song on. A toddler standing in the bathroom with the exact energy of someone who has recently made a decision about toilet training. Two kids existing in completely separate universes, one a ninja the other upset about me looking at her. A mum having a tender moment quietly feeding her newborn.

The green tiles in the kitchen and your favourite items in the kitchen. The gallery wall that took years to fill and tells the whole story of your family without a single caption. Walls painted green cause it was your favourite colour.

All of it. That is what I document.

The Moments That Seem Small Are Often the Ones You Will Miss Most

There is always a reason to wait. I can’t the house is a mess. The kids are going through a phase. We will do it when things settle down. I need to lose weight.

But things do not settle down. They just change. And the mess, the phase, the chaos of this particular Tuesday, that is the stuff. That is what future you is going to want to see, hear and feel when you look back at these images in ten years.

Please know, it does not have to be a family. A couple in their new home. Room mates and their cats. Mum having a moment with their girl. Two lovers in a kitchen, laughing and cuddling. A whole extended family over for lunch, celebrating nothing but being together in the place they grew up. To the Nan that still lives a home at 96yo.

Whatever your life looks like right now, it deserves to be told.

Your Story Sessions Across Melbourne, Geelong and the Surf Coast

Documentary family home photography is available as a Your Story session, and no two sessions ever look the same. Because no two homes, no two families, no two chapters of life are the same.

If you have been sitting on the idea of documenting this chapter, come and talk to me. Not when things are tidier. Not when the kids are older. Now. Right now, while it still looks exactly like this.
